Avoid skipping Meals Sometimes it seems like skipping meals may be the answer to saving calories. However, this tactic is not only extremely unhealthy, but can backfire in your attempt to lose weight. Pushing off meals until later in the day generally leads to overeating.
Your hunger builds, and plans for a simple or small meal, quickly become eating everything in sight to ease your hunger pains. The better solution is to eat several small meals, or snacks throughout the day. This way you can avoid becoming too hungry and over indulging.
Avoid skipping workouts When setting a goal to lose weight, it is important that you understand and embrace the exercise. Implementing exercise is a key element, and equally as important as choosing to have a healthier diet.
Having this balance that will help you achieve your goals. Exercise helps you burn calories, as well as increases your lean body mass. In addition your exercise positively benefits your metabolism. If you have not been active, exercising can seem like a daunting and overwhelming task. However, they key is to take baby steps, and engage in activities that you enjoy. On your first scheduled day of exercise, don’t attempt a 5 mile run. You may find your body over exerted, and yourself mentally drained. Plan to take a one mile walk, and work from there. Or, if you enjoy dancing, take a Zumba class! When you find something you enjoy, exercising will become less of a chore, and something to look forward to.
Avoid being hard on yourself Changing your lifestyle to be more healthy is difficult, and it is not a quick fix that can happen overnight. If you miss a workout, or eat the dessert you were planning on skipping, don’t get discouraged, or quit your resolution all together.
Stay motivated, and focus on the positive steps you have accomplished, and the overall goals you want to achieve. Along the way allow yourself “cheat” meals where you can enjoy something you have been craving in moderation. If you get bored with your exercise routine, switch it up and try something new! Don’t get stuck in a rut, and always cheer yourself on!
